Several 1-star reviews in one or two days, often without details – that is rarely a coincidence. The good news: coordinated waves often break Google's rules, and acting quickly helps.
Signs of a review wave
- Several 1- or 2-star reviews within hours or days.
- New or empty profiles, often without photos or other reviews.
- Similar wording, no details about a real visit.
- A link to a recent event: a viral post, a dispute, a competitor opening.
First 48 hours: checklist
- Take screenshots of every review with date and profile name.
- Report each review individually in your Business Profile – with the most fitting reason (often “Fake engagement” or “Off-topic”).
- Don't reply in anger. If needed, one short neutral reply is enough.
- Check status in the Reviews Management Tool after a few days.
- Prepare the appeal: which policy, which signs (timing, similar text, no visit).
Google's own protection
Google can temporarily restrict new reviews on a profile during unusual activity and sometimes removes such waves automatically. You can also contact Google Business Profile support and describe the pattern.

Frequently asked questions
Will Google remove all reviews in a wave?
Not automatically. Each review is assessed. Reviews that show signs of coordination or fake engagement have good chances.
Should I ask happy customers for reviews now?
Yes, honestly and without incentives – that's allowed and helps your average. Never buy reviews.
